424 CONTESTANTS FROM THROUGHOUT U.S. TO COMPETE IN NATIONAL TRUCK DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS & NATIONAL STEP VAN DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS WEEK

What: National Truck Driving Championships and National Step Van Driving Championships
When: August 15-18, 2018
Where: Greater Columbus Convention Center Exhibit Hall A
Why: Showcasing 81 years of truck-driving safety excellence
How: Featuring 424 contestants from around the country with every state represented, drivers in nine classes must first be winners in their respective state contests and then participate in a written exam. Categories are step vans, straight truck, 3-axle, 4-axle, 5-axle, flatbed, tank truck, twins and sleep-berth vehicles. On August 16 at about 9:45 a.m., contestants will begin competing in the skills test and pre-trip inspection. Competition continues at 7:15 a.m. August 17. The championship finals will begin at 9:30 a.m. August 18, with the championship awards reception and banquet beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Battelle Grand to honor the best-of-the-best state champions.
