What: 2019 United States Fencing Association National Championships and July Challenge
When: June 28 – July 7, 2019
Where: Greater Columbus Convention Center (GCCC)
Why: World’s largest fencing tournament
How: More than 5,400 fencers from most states and about 20 countries will compete in the tournament, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Fencers will compete in all three categories of epee, foil and saber, and range in age from younger than 10 to older than 80.
Tickets: Admission is $5 daily or $20 for a full tournament pass and can be purchased via www.usafencing.org/store or when arriving at the GCCC.
Additional details: The Committed Columbus series created by the Greater Columbus Sports Commission is dedicated to the empowerment of women in sports. The next session, on July 1, will feature speakers Donald Anthony and Kris Ekeren of USA Fencing, networking and lunch. The session will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in GCCC Room B-131. Registration is available through June 30 at www.columbussports.org. Tickets are $30.
