GCCC as potential hospital site

March 31, 2020

Dear Greater Columbus Convention Center (GCCC) partners:

As media sources have reported, the GCCC may potentially serve as a surge hospital site during the coronavirus outbreak.

As you are aware, the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve.  Discussions are indeed underway between the GCCC and local hospitals if the need arises for surge hospitals in our community.  However, no decisions have been finalized at this point.

This includes the type of hospital the GCCC would serve as, and the time period the GCCC would be asked to serve in that capacity.

We are in the midst of an unprecedented global health crisis and like companies and convention centers across the country, the GCCC is committed to serving in the best role we can for our community at large.  We know that our partners also share this commitment.

We will continue to provide updates as soon as we can.  Ultimately, the main goal is to institute measures now so that we can continue to manage and limit virus spread.

Our top priority continues to be your well-being – your health and safety. We have been, and will continue to be, working in tandem with our partners, city, state and public health officials to take every step necessary to protect the health of our employees and future guests.

Although the GCCC is closed currently based upon the COVID-19 stay-at-home order and ban on mass gatherings temporarily affecting our operation, our GCCC team is working from home and ready to serve you.

We promise to keep you updated on future developments related to the GCCC’s operation. We assure you that we are committed to health and safety as we navigate this unprecedented health crisis together.

Sincerely,

John Page
