Battelle Grand

Meeting and event planners from throughout the country and their guests are discovering the splendor of Battelle Grand, the SMG-managed Greater Columbus Convention Center’s multi-purpose ballroom that is the largest in Ohio.

Described by media and hospitality representatives as “the new place to be,” “a marvelous experience realm” and “a 15” on a scale of one to 10, Battelle Grand debuted in January 2010 after an extensive 16-month, $40 million renovation. Battelle Grand is receiving accolades both for its amenities and capability of accommodating large banquets, upscale trade shows, athletic competitions and wedding receptions.

Battelle Grand offers 74,000 square feet of premium, flexible space divisible into five configurations, with upscale wall treatments and carpeting, floor-to-ceiling windows and the signature LED lighting fins in the ceiling capable of 65,000 color combinations.

There are 50,000 square feet of space on the main floor and an additional 24,000 square feet on the mezzanine. Elevators and escalators provide direct access to the mezzanine level. A widened connecting walkway from the north building of the facility creates a grand arrival for guests entering Battelle Grand. Pre-function space allows guests with the opportunity to mingle before entering the ballroom.

The abundant size of Battelle Grand is further enhanced by blackout curtains and sunshades, floor-pocket power and data sources to support trade shows, built-in concession areas and a variety of seating options.

Accompanying Battelle Grand is an additional 10,000 square feet of first-floor meeting room space, including the stellar 36 on the Boulevard, a deluxe window-lined room perfect for special receptions. The Center Lounge now offers a spacious public seating area enhanced by flat-screen televisions. There are also new elevators, escalators, carpeting and furnishings throughout the facility.

When you book your event, you’ll see why The Columbus Dispatch referred to Battelle Grand as “the new place to be” even before it opened its doors!
