Why: Reading Recovery is an early intervention program for the lowest-performing first-grade students who struggle learning to read and write. How: This is the organization’s 35th anniversary. There are keynote speakers February 9 at 10 a.m., February 10 at 10:30 a.m., and New York Times best-selling author Nikki Grimes at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 11 as part of the annual African-American Read-In. Book signings in Battelle Grand North will follow each keynote session.

More than 2,000 Reading Recovery and K-6 classroom teachers, literacy coaches, school administrators, superintendents, intervention specialists and additional educators will attend this conference. The event provides attendees with the opportunity to explore new books and educational products and includes four days of activity filled with more than 60 exhibitors, 100 sessions and 140 speakers.
